Translations

I have made visible a previously existing (but hidden) French 'translation' that appears mostly complete. Unfortunately I understand minimal French, so I can neither complete the missing component, nor 'correct' the existing text.
I have also overhauled the existing English 'translation' of the first few sentences. I am basing this on the German text in the article. I found there was significant and peculiar inconsistency between the German and English versions in the article. This could be due to a mediocre translation into English. Or it could be that the German version in this article was substantially modified (it is marked as "abridged"), and differs significantly from the original German text, on which perhaps the previously-existing English 'translation' could have been based. In the former case, my revised translation should be better (not necessarily perfect). In the latter case, I apologise for misunderstanding, and you're welcome to revert those specific changes only (please don't revert all amendments I made).
